Sound System installation in KC Area

Hello KC...

Got hooked on idea of multi-functional sound system (GPS, DVD, CD, IPOD, AMFM, Sat Radio, Back up camera, etc.) but am concerned about finding qualified installation services in the Kansas City area.

Has anyone installed any replacements to the factory installed systems?

Searched the chapter's forum but didn't see anything - sorry if I missed it.

Just make sure that the installer is MECP certified and you will be fine ;)

If you can't find one then all Circuit City and Best Buy installers should be, or do a google on MECP installers in your area

Thanks for the info on AUTCO in Shawnee. We'll check it out. Saw that Pioneer AVIC-F90BT at Nebraska Furn Mart. They have there own fabrication and wood shop. They do the installs for all of the Aristocrat stereo upgrades and backup cameras. We were pretty impressed. Lifetime warrenty on install. Haven't decided yet, but for the $3000+ its going to cost for everything we want, we want to make the right decisions. That F90BT is sweet. Ordered a dash kit from Al&Ed's ebay website.

Finally got our smart back. Started a new thread with the details.

Wanted to let you know that we used Nebraska Furniture Mart in KCK and could have not been treaded better. Our audio guy is:

They built a custom fiberglass housing for the subwoofer. They have a huge shop with woodworking and fabrication capabilities. We were really surprised. We were their first "smart". They documented the process with 150+ pictures. We stopped by several times and the guys were great. Had some great ideas for equipment placement, including

• the backup camera inside the back window (other's have placed it need the license plate where someone could yank it)
• the compact AMP behind the driver's seat (since its mounted forward of the passenger seat so there's more room - and you don't have to disrupt the airbag or seatbelt sensor under the seat)
• tweeters - not in doors

We originally went there because PIONEER had them listed as a supplier of the components we were looking for and we thought we'd just look at them there. Had no idea they did the kind of work that they do. They do the installs of backup cameras, etc. for the high end cars at Aristocrat. We figured if the dealer trusted them, we'd give them a shot. We will have them install a new system on our ordered smart when it arrives. This install is on our orphan.
