Waiting List in KC??

Does anyone have any information on the length of the waiting list in and around the KC metro area? I'm not talking about the time period, more like the number of people that have reserved a Smart in the KC area. I reserved mine in April 2008 with a confirmation # of 1573, so I know I have a ways to go. I did however call the dealership and put myself on the orphan list, but was told that since I ordered a cabrio, it's probably not going to work out for me, as they've only had about 6 cabrios come into the KC area. Anyways, any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Mike! Welcome to the KC group!

Sadly, I doubt anyone here has that information. If everyone who had reserved got on to this forum and chimed in, one could do a head-count. But that isn't going to happen since LOTS of people don't even know this forum exists.

Howabout this: Surely you have an estimated delivery date from the Dread DDE. Aristocrat gets ABOUT 30 cars/month. If your delivery date is say, April 09 (you will have to fudge), then that's 8 months from now. 8 x 30 cars = 240 Waiters.

This is pure speculation of course, but I bet it's at least in the ballpark. Those of us with cars sympathize with, empathize with and grok your situation! IT SUCKS! But it is temporary. If you want stuff to do till your car gets here, say so. We have quite a few suggestions for how to pass the time (beginning with what you are doing: post! Ask questions! Read the forum!).

my number is 1666 i put the deposit down on july24/08 i am a bit confused as the the numbers. seems every one has just 4 numbers. but these are the last 4 of my #. just in my head i'm looking to get my car on christmas 09. have no word of it but just a guess.

Actually there may be some relief and increased delivery for KC. A second dealer will be open and should start delivering in January of next year. Each dealer will have to deliver about 30 cars per month to stay in business, so...that should up our areas deliveries from 30 to about 60 cars per month. If this holds true the DDE is not going to mean much till things come together.

hey "DB" who is the other dealer. I'm waiting for more announcements on the 2009 model as that's when mine should be built/delivered.

My understanding that it will be the other MB dealer (owned by the same company that owns Aristocrat). I don't remember where the new location is but it will not be on 103rd, It will be down south around 135th I think.

My wife said she drove by the new MB dealership that is being built and its over off 135th and Stateline out in Martin City.

Still don't have a Delivery Date or have even gotten an email from Smart offering for me to configure my car. I'm thinkin' I'll probably take delivery around spring of next year. What do yall think?

If this helps I reserved on 5/10/08 with a 1591 confirmation number.

This of coarse was before the big gas hikes that came shortly after.

My wife placed he Reservation Aug 1 but reservation # is 10 digits long as was mine I took delivery end of June (reservation end of May,07), what gives everyone else is refering to a 4 digit #.

Just a reminder from an earlier post:
The reservation number that came from "noreply@smartusa.com" called «Your smart USA Reservation» is the moment your $99 deposit was entered into IB's system.
I.e.
the number: 0345511709 or 03|45|51|1709
03 = 30 seconds
45 = 54 minutes
51 = 15 hours
(all Pacific time)
into the 1709th day after Jan 1, 2004
The program started March 19, 2007 with #...1173
And today's 1709...
