I view this thread with some curiosity.
First, I find it strange and somewhat unprofessional that a dealer would post publicly that a customer's car has arrived. Isn't this a bit of a privacy issue? If it were me, I sure wouldn't want the world to know that my car just arrived at the dealership. That's my business and no one else's. If I want to tell the world, that should be my choice and I'll start a thread about my car being in if I decide to do so.
Next, if the dealer has the customer's contact info, isn't that enough? Why feel the need to publicize it for all to see? Does Heather not have an answering machine? If that doesn't work, wouldn't a Private Message be more appropriate?
Is this the thread that pertains the "dealer issues"? ......
No longer a smart owner (Temporarily, I hope)
If so, I don't see that the dealer did anything wrong. They provided the car earlier than expected by making an "orphan" available. It was the customer's choice to accept it or to continue waiting. Why would the dealer simply presume that the original reserve was still applicable. For example, if you were scheduled for an MRI at a clinic in 6 months time, but a cancellation made it possible for you get your MRI 2 months early, would the clinic still think you are coming in for the original appointment? Or would you think that the original appointment would be cancelled? Why should the dealer "suck up" at all? A little common sense goes a long way.
