Looking for NON-dealership Service Shop in NYC

I've had mixed results dealing with SmartCenterManhattan. Great people on the sales floor but the service dept really isn't interested in doing upgrades and mods, let alone calling me back in a reasonable amount of time. Has anyone in the area found a skilled shop they really like? I don't want to go somewhere that hasn't worked on the smart before.

I know smart Edison has an good service department.I hear Englewood is good too.

Indeed, smart centre Englewood is excellent in every regard and only minutes from NYC. If you want to give them a call (888.211.8045), be sure to ask for Michael, and tell them that Christopher referred you.

I don't think you'll find a "Non-Dealership" that will perform 'smart' upgrades at NO CHARGE, if at all.

If you're simply looking for someone to do routine maintenance, that's one thing. BUT for warranty work and any 'FREE' upgrades, you're going to have to deal with a smart center.

Check out Englewood and Edison as they're really your best bet for service as well, unless you're planning on doing the maintenance yourself.

Ray Catena in Edison is amazing. Felt right at home rubbing elbows with the Aston Martin, Porshe, and high end Benzes. Free food. Internet. even a pool table to pass the time while your baby is getting worked on. The staff bends over backwards to help.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic in the New York City area that can advise and install an engine modification? I was thinking maybe a smart madness turbo kit, but am open to suggestions. I called Michael in Englewood but they only do body work. He recommended Mobile Innovations but they admit to not having much experience yet with Smart engine mods.
