A dealer neglecting to offer a reserved car to its proper reserver due to a previous orphan purchase by same reserver??
did i miss something here??? did she already purchase an orphan? i know that at SCI, if you're offered an orphan, you can purchase it and still get your ordered car when it arrives.
Hope this helps as I think I went through a similar frustration. I reserved April 1, 2007. Got an e-mail from my dealership on 2/26/08 that my smart was "at Port" and thought I was 30 days out from owning. Told a month later that e-mail was a "mistake". I was often searching this sight for hope after that and watched others, post they got their smarts and many had higher reservations numbers than mine! Even saw a car, like my planned specs, in mid May and thought they must have sold it out from under me. Another smart poster, on this sight, told me to hang tight...I did, because I had no choice. Even looked at Hybrids in my frustration...but on May 31st, all turned out fine...just way longer wait than my desired plan having been mistakenly notified 2/26/08. 1889 miles later, can't believe I've driven it that much. Hang tight and do keep asking questions as necessary. I found that Smart USA/Penske was no help and no supervisor ever called me back the 2 times they promised to look into it. When I called or e-mailed my dealership I could only hoped they did not think I was crazy. The wait IS an interesting and personal journey. My mechanic that took care of my former Mercedes told me last week my smart was built in April and tires were made in January. In hindsight I think it was all so new for my dealership and I got the car I ordered....I was always told April 2008 was the projected date so getting May 31 (notified a week earlier but dealership is 90 miles away so went the next weekend) was not to far off for a new program BUT of course, each dealership may handle differently but hang tight hope yours is here sooner than later. My Destination info changed at one point and that also frustrated me....changed by 2 months.

Hi folks,
I don't want to put too much up here until I see what's offered, but just wanted to clear up a few questions people are asking. I do already own an orphan. (Which is a great car and got me over the 'gap', which was a lot shorter than I expected, just not exactly what I wanted.) I did receive DDE confirmation that my car was delivered. Not a window, I had that before, but it now says delivered. I was not contacted by the dealership and I *know* they have my details and have them right. They're certainly able to get hold of me about my orphan, and the details in my reservation are correct. I'm working through a variety of channels, but yesterday HQ did confirm what I suspected, that "my" car has already been sold by the dealership.

Ooops. Yeah, I thought you had the yellow one already (BTW, has your husband been driving it in the past few months? saw what I thought was you coming, and it was some dude w/a beard! ).
Have you physically been down to the dealer? I know which dealer you're at, and they have always treated me very well. Maybe a personal visit is in order? How much diiferent is your orphan than the one you ordered?
IIRC, there was one orphan there today. I think I heard that. I think things like this happen when human beings are involved, and demand is soooooo far exceeding supply. scary...
