Dang it! I never said that word before as I grew up in a dealership for the first 8 years of my life - most weekends went in with my father. I was just trying to push your button as I think people could get slightly in an uproar at that particular dealership. Enough to be a problem.

My car (which i don't have yet) per Smart USA got off in Jacksonvile. Should of gone to Baltimore port and as of last Tuesday was on its way there. They did give me a vin#.Your dealer should offer you an orphan with no add ons. That would be only fair. I'm sure with Smart USA and the dealer something can be worked out.. Good luck.

Oh my word! What a crock. I, too, took an orphan until my baby comes in. Billy Cooper at Lincolnwood is very aware that I want my original order. I think I'll give him a bump tomorrow and remind him so I don't have this problem. Best of luck!

(sorry, couldn't resist...)

(Which is a great car and got me over the 'gap', which was a lot shorter than I expected, just not exactly what I wanted.) I did receive DDE confirmation that my car was delivered. Not a window, I had that before, but it now says delivered. I was not contacted by the dealership and I *know* they have my details and have them right. They're certainly able to get hold of me about my orphan, and the details in my reservation are correct. I'm working through a variety of channels, but yesterday HQ did confirm what I suspected, that "my" car has already been sold by the dealership.
Hi hethere3 -

Have they resolved this to your satisfaction yet? We're all anxious to here how it came out.

My orphan was a car that got off at the wrong dealership - Smart dealer reps said they called the owner and offered up to fly him out to pick up the car from there and he turned it down. Jacksonville was only 3 hours further from his other dealer but he still backed out of the deal - apparently went on the orphan list in Houston.

Hi, and thanks for asking. No this hasn't been resolved and I didn't seem to be getting anywhere with the local dealership. Including more false promises of callbacks with information. Thanks to an earlier poster in the thread I called Dave Schembri's office. They're now looking into it and I expect I'll see a much faster resolution that way than if I'd left it up to my local dealership. To say they were not pleased with what had happened to date would be an understatement.
Needless to say, once I get the car, the dealership will never seem me again. I'm lucky enough to live within 30ish miles of 2 dealerships, and the other one will get all my business from this point forwards. I'm also going to ask once they do find me a car if it's possible to have it delivered to the other dealership. I don't want the local one to get *anything* else from me.
