courthouse

Hi,
I saw your post, I work in 4th district court. I reserved a car just a few weeks ago, I recently went to visit Smithtown.
The staff was very nice to me when I went to test drive the car. Than again they always are before you buy the car, once its yours, its all over.
I also have a choice of the two dealerships, but they let me know once I configured the car to put them down. They had a lot of cars there. I don't know if they were taken already or orphans.
I was very surprised when I checked to see what my DDE date is: Dec/2008 to /Feb 2009 most of the people from other states are waiting for a very long time.
I hope they resolve your problem and you get your car soon.
Which court do you work in?
Carmela

Heathere3 - where is your car???

I am so frustrated and disgusted with the local dealership it's not funny. The part I'm trying to decide now is whether it's worth continuing to deal with smart as a company. You all know how much I love the little guys, but I don't know if I really want to be a driving advertisement for them. I'm getting really rather tempted to just sell my orphan to my friend (who lives in NJ and has a seemingly great dealership) and buy a Fit or Yaris. I don't really know what's a reasonable timeline to give them to fix this. I understand that there's a constraint on finding me an orphan due to the limited numbers so it's not like it was another, easily available car. Anyone got any ideas for what that would be?

Any udpdate on this? Has the dealer made things right? Come back and tell us how this story ended.

heathere3 - Tell the GM your lawyer has asked you to call once more to give the dealership a last chance at finding a resolution to this issue before you start legal proceedings. Dealers know it will cost them $10K to present a defense in court and that everyone in the country has been screwed by a dealership at one time or another and they will probably loose the case. It's worth a shot at this point and who knows, they just might puke a car configured the way you requested it in the first place!!

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delayed responses, I was away for work. Where it currently stands is that the dealership is now promising me a new on late September. We'll see... I did sell my orphan (hi Ianargent!) and if they don't come through, I *KNOW* I don't want to deal with them any further. The complete lack of communication (and simply wrong information) has hit my frustration threshold.
