Has anyone found an optimal position on the windshield for it? I've tried a few and it's either blocking the line of sight (i.e. center, below hockey puck, or in the wrong position to see lights (ie. about hockey puck level, below the EZ pass behind the mirror.). Currently I have it at the top of the windshild overlapping onto the center console (or whatever it's called that has the Passenger seat belt warning light) and it seems to be OK there for about 1/2 of the intersection lights.

I've been very happy with the one I made, and describe above. In this area there are lots of traffic lights at the bottom of hills, where the light is well above the line of sight, and this has worked great.

So far, I've found that positioning it just to the left of the overhead console at the very top edge of the windshield works best for me. (Actually, the right end, as you face front, is actually bent around the corner and goes about 1" onto the side of the console.) For reference, I'm 5'11" In that position I can see most of the intersection lights in my part of NJ. And, it quickly got used to it and don't find it obstructs or distracts my view of the road,

New turn on old trick

They used to use this in a similar way in chopped hot rods..
You can find this one here:

Traffic Light Viewer

Although I think if you look around you could find some cooler ones. They used to be fairly ornate Chrome & Acrylic....

re: New Turn on old Trick...

You know the key to succesful internet searches is just figuring out what things are more commonly called, so try searching 'traffic light viewer' and you find other options like this one:
I Found this one at:
Traffic Light Viewer For Chop Tops

Or my Favorite the 'Deluxe':

I thought it was just me. I am 5' 1/12" . I pull my seat up just enought to reach the pedals. I ordered directly from the web site and got a confirmation back right away. I will wait to see if they send it.

If you're 6'3" and can see the traffic light (without craning you neck), then your seat is probably maladjusted. It may be reclined too far or you may be sitting too close to the wheel. See: Bob Bondurant @ The Wheel: Driving Position - AutoTrader.com

I'm 6"3' I could not see some of the stop lights if I was first in line, I bought a Lightnsight, I stuck it just to the left of the rear view mirror. Works perfect, now I don't have to peek out the clear roof. I don't know about every state, but in Virginia, many of the lights are not across the intersection, hard to see. The profit margin must be terrific, it is just a strip of flexible plastic, probably costs a few pennies to make in a large volumn. But for me it was a wise expendature.

save your money

many vehicles have a blind spot when looking up to the traffic lights.my land rover disco 1 and 11 was the worst followed by my montero. When stopped at a traffic , just wait for someone to blow their horn, then you know its green!!!!!!!
