This is the armrest I bought for my Cabrio. I can't praise it highly enough; it looks like it came out of smartville as an OEM part of the car.

As Ferris Bueller says, "If you have the means, I highly recommend it."

Glad you like the armrest. The one you have is THE very best out there based on what we have seen and we have seen and used them all. It is not the least expensive, but it is the best.

Our goal was to provide everyone with a choice and let them pick. The one you bought is the top of the line. The one we introduced in this thread is the best of what is available under $250.

Mine should be here soon... I hope the sun is what is making it look grey... I am hoping for black, to match my black leather...

It's a trick of the photography. The color match with the leather seats is dead-on.

Installed. My mechanical skills are about a 3.5 on a 1-10 scale. Here are the notes for the less technically inclined.

Good:

Nice sturdy piece... Nice and long... Hinge/bolt allows it to fold all the way back... Leather color match to black is pretty close.

Bad:

Grain/pattern is different than my leather seats... Holes on bracket require adjustment (side to side)... Install is a bit awkward but not unmanageable... Finish on armrest makes it hard to tighten bolts...

Install tips:

Use needle nose to thread bolts thru hole and bracket....

Be careful, parts can fall in the seat track openings...

You really have to clip the wire wrap to install...

Finish on armrest tends to make washer spin, you will likely need to apply pliers or a wrench as you tighten...

Push armrest toward driver as you tighten, Or it will look crooked and unbalanced...

It is actually easier to tighten the bolts from the passenger side, once started...

My install time - 25 minutes...

My satisfaction- 1-10 scale.... 8.5... At $160 compared to other products... 9.5...

But I am a cheap bastige... ;-)

The install on this armrest is the same as all the others. I can honestly say that since we have installed every single one that is made (except the plastic one that screws in to the carpet).

What we do is simply slide the seat all the way up, push the seat back all the way towards the steering wheel and actually climb in behind the seat, sit down and bolt it in. There is a little zip tie that holds a wire loom to the seat frame. If you cut off the zip tie the bolt will slide right in. We then take a small combo wrench and slide it inside the frame to hold the bolt and use a small socket to tighten the bolt. By having the right tools at our disposal we are able to get the install down to about 5 minutes. However, we have done a bunch of them and when I personally installed my first one I took a lot longer since I did not have the proper tools. I also ended up dropping the nut in the rail just like you mentioned. :-)

Glad you like the armrest!

My install skills suck... But I haven't installed any of the others, as you have... As such, I was actually happy with 25 minutes...

That is why I ain't even thinking about DIY on the MDC Cruise... Would probably take me 6 hours...

You never realize how much you love an armrest until you don't have one...

Soooo true! :-)

PS. The CC is not bad as long as you follow directions and do not short cut.

You're making me want an arm rest now.

FYI: My install skills are probably about the same as yours from the sound of it. And yes, it took me about 3 hours to install the MDC the first time... But it's so worth it. Don't let the install time keep you from grabbing a CC. Set aside a few hours for install and you'll be fine, regardless. And if you finish the install early, more time for "testing" it out!
