Smart Car Armrest

Here is a little clarification about Smart car Armrests.

As far as we know there are two armrests available for the smart car. The one we offer and the less expensive version that some other vendors offer.

The one we offer does not have a storage area, the other less expensive one does. If storage is more important to you, then the other one would probably work better for you.

What else is different?

The one we offer is a high quality piece that is fully adjustable, covered in leather to match all smart car interiors and is held in place by a sturdy metal bracket that is bolted to the drivers side seat frame. You do not need to drill any holes, they are already on your seat frame (reach around with your hand and you will feel them). The bracket bolts to the seat and is SOLID. It is not held in place by a plastic base that screws in to the carpet, like the other.

On the pics they both look great, but if you see them side by side there is NO comparison. We had over 50 smart owners try them out at the LA Auto show and EVERY single one of them loved it.

So, to summarize.... Yes, the one we offer is more money and to some it is seems expensive. However, we would rather explain why it costs more once, rather than continuously apologize for the poor quality when the product fails to do what is was designed to do.

Right now the one we offer is the best in the market and we will not offer the "other" armrest due to a number of our customers personal feedback on the item and our own experience. Once another manufacturer designs and manufactures a quality one at a lower cost (anyone?) we will gladly offer other options. At this time these seem to be the two options.

Thank you....

No, it does not. The armrest bolts to the seat frame and moves with it. It can also be brought up and fully adjusted.

Thanks!

No problem! :-)

We have it on our car and can operate the seat pretty easily. The bracket on the picture looks like it would block you from being able to adjust the seat back, but that is not the case. It may take another second or two, but you should be able to have a full function of the seat with the armrest.

Better yet, let's ask some people that got these from us on their thoughts in order to make sure you have ALL the info.

Guys, Gals that have got this armrest......

Any feedback?

Thank you....

No problems adjusting the seat back what-so-ever. My wife likes the seat back almost straight up and down and I prefer the seat back leaned back for my comfort. Also the seat belt takes a time or two to find the buckle or you can do as I do...just lift the arm rest out of the way. This is one great quality item...everyone that has seen it and tried it in her car is impressed and would like one but most don't want to spend the money. As soon as SmartMadness decides to "give them away" there won't be any available!!!

A little update....

We are down to the last 10 sets and will not get another shipment until after the 1st of the year. So, if you are thinking about this for a gift don't wait to long or they may be gone.

Thanks....

I put mine in yesterday (though I got it from smartieparts, not from smartmadness) but it really looks great. There's no way you would ever know it wasn't original equipment. No problem with seat belts, adjustments, shifting, etc. No matter who you get it from (as long as it's the MDC one) it's a great addition to the car. - sheureka
