There's no questioning this point. I, for one, would prefer actual data on blocking the airflow beyond a few data points in limited weather situations in limited load conditions.

I wouldn't care to risk overheating based on limited information. It seems to me that car temperatures don't fluctuate (thanks to the thermostat installed in the coolant system) until things go very, very wrong. A real understanding would be how much cooling capacity is lost: something it doesn't appear you're prepared to discuss.

If someone overheats wearing this pantyhose mask, we will find out about it through the forum so there's less chance of multiple people experiencing the same fate.

If this was "fitted" to the body panels, like normal car bras this would be a nice addition for road trips where you're bound to run into swarms of bugs.

First you are right it is to protect the car from a swarm of bugs or rocks kicking up from other cars or even while you are towing your smart.

It is made to come off in minutes so if you do not like the look drive your car on your road trip and when you get there take it off in a minute and look the front end is clean.

As for cooling lets say we have had this product for the corvettes for years on big 650+ hp motors with no problems what so ever. Under 100hp is nothing.

I have already tested this with my turbo smart with over 100 hp with no problems.

Completely missed this thread; had a chance to talk with Ernie and the supplier about the mask this weekend. Hope to be able to try one out on the smart shortly, but it's from the same folks who have sold these masks for the Corvette for years. I've had one since 2003 or so and it in no way hurts the performance of the car or increases engine temp. Styling is in the eye of the beholder, but I'll take the looks along with the bug free front end and mirrors.

Because these are made from Spandex(TM) they fit like a glove - absolutely no flapping around, period. They will not beat up the paint like some vinyl bras do. Also, they breath - so any water on them simply evaporates.
