If I am not mistaken, I thought having these open would be better. They could then naturally dry them selves out versus trapping humidity inside.

Not sure of the water/humidity in-or-out issue, but the Breathless Performance black powder-coated caps I've had from the beginning do serve to hide the ugly, gaping tube ends. They go completely un-noticed. BP's are close-fitting, machined aluminum caps vs. covers or plugs.

Our Tube Covers are well made. One is actually pure stainless steel and does a great job. The other is powdercoated steel which works just as well. For those who are interested we are offering a rainy/winter special:

A lot of people get these in the east coast and find these to be a great help for their car. The encounter a lot more rain and snow than we do in California.

Is there any drilling required? It looks as if that set screw would have to go through the axle tube to be secure.

No drilling required. The set screw just grips on to the tube.
