It attaches to the two screw holes that hold the lower panel on. Behind there are a set of brackets. The bumper has a really clean design and looks good on the car. It sits lower than the others, but it should still help out if someone were to lightly bump the smart. If someone was to get in a rear end collision none of the bumpers would do much. They are all designed for mostly looks and some protections from small bumps.
