I have the new version of the smart floor mats, and they don't come with the extension for the left foot.
That strikes me as odd, because the area is a natural foot rest, why would they remove the "tab" on the new floor mats ?

Not that I am aware of. You are the first person that has ever asked.
The reason smart got rid of the tab is that it kept coming loose and would fold down and dangle. We have had customers that ended up cutting it off because it was so annoying.
