smart car Cold Air Intake Sale!

Add some needed power to your smart!

A Cold Air Intake is one of the best ways to add Horsepower to your smart and at the same time increase your fuel mileage. As many of you know we offer the Smart Car Performance Cold Air Intake. This is one of the most common performance upgrades done to smart cars. Unlike other intakes on the market that draw air from below, this intake is designed to take advantage of the stock air inlet.

It has been proven to add much needed power to the smart and has been one of our best performance products.

100's of these intakes have been sold and due to a special purchase deal we worked out with Smart Car Performance we happy to announce a price promo on the newest version of this Cold Air Intake.

For the month of August we are offering this intake at a greatly reduced price. If you are interested in the item or are curious about the sale here is the direct product link:

Sorry it is not good enough for you. We do what we can.

This is the lowest this intake has ever sold for. We did not reduce it due to a lack of sales. This intake sells out regularly at the $350 price (sold out last week). We reduced it because we got a very large batch made and this allowed the manufacturer to reduce our cost and we have simply decided to pass it on to our customers.

Shipping cost if $19.99. This covers shipping by UPS and it is also insured for your protection. If you would like to save a little more give us a buzz directly and we can ship it by the USPS and probably save you an extra $5.

Our number is 562-961-6800.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone ever done back-to-back dyno pulls with a stock Fortwo vs. a Fortwo with a cold-air intake installed, for the comparison? I'd be interested in knowing how much of a gain there is, and where in the torque curve it happens.

I'm considering one of these as well and would like to hear how hear what people think after having one installed.

Using the stock inlet for this seems like the most logical solution, looks like a winner!

Look closer... it's not sealed so it still pulls some hot air from the engine compartment....

Wait a couple of weeks and there will be a CAI that is sealed to the stock intake... It's in production now...

Being completely sealed is not necessary. The opening is for ease of installation and to reduce any moisture that can come in. The opening is on the side of the scoop, away from the engine. With the side air duct blowing directly on the filter, this keeps the intake temps down.

I have done numerous tests and have driven Thousands of miles and can tell you that this intake definitely cools the air intake temp. I've seen my intake temp drop nearly 20 degrees from driving a short 1/8 mile run. There are of course countless conditions that has to be accounted for.

Our Intake pipe is made from Stainless Steel. This has been our policy to have the best quality product so it will last. We have been selling our intake for over 1 year and still going strong. Once you install it, you will notice the performance difference right away.

Here's another question: does making these (or any other brand of CAI) out of metal contribute to transferring heat from the engine compartment through the metal tubing? Or is it so slight as to not matter? Seems a material which conducts less heat would be better, or maybe coating the tubing with an insulator would work?

This is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for!! There is ne reason to not take advantage of the intake opening. This sounds like it will be the only, true CAI!

Good question. There are a few factors involved when choosing the type of pipe. Our biggest factor is heat, of course and humidity. Using a coating or a less heat conductive material can help but with time, the engine heat works its way in, no matter what. You can coat it with an insulator but that's an extra cost. You can use a much higher grade plastic or real carbon fiber but that's also an extra cost. You don't want to use a low grade plastic because the heat alone will crack it in no time.

We chose Stainless steel because of the durability and we made our pipe as short as possible so it has less time to heat up. So whether the pipe is heated up or not, as long as the air outside is cool enough, it will still cool down the intake temps. In the morning when my car is cold, of course we get the best results. When my car is warmed up the intake temps are a little higher but when you start moving, the temps drop down. This works because of our short pipe design.
