And that is one scarry streach of road. Lots of high cross wind areas and a streach of road where I first experienced Black Ice.

OK on plowed streets/roads. Once you get in the deep stuff it wants to follow the ruts or plow as you turn; keeping the speed down helps with the turns and the electronic aids will keep it moving in a fairly straight line. The winter tires are the real deal - glad we got them. Not a Subaru but pretty similar to the old VWs and Corvairs (with much better electronics and heater!)

Reminds me of the 71 Beetle I learned to drive with, rear engine and rear drive makes it a fun car. I have pure wheels with LM-18's for the winter, even more fun and much safer.
The only thing I would do different is having the skinny 145's all around, now I have 145's front and 175's rear.

My wifes Smart is a unstoppable in the snow we regularly take it out. after the 30 inches we just got hers was the first car out of the lot at our town-house and all we did was knock it down to about 6 inches deep and she was on her way. Stock wheels and tires nothing special, just a good knowledge of how to drive in the snow.
she can't wait for the lift kit from smartmadness so she can roll in deeper snow if needed.

I've only had the car since October, but I drove it through the Christmas snow storm in Minnesota and each storm since, including the latest dumping, and I LOVE driving it in the snow. I haven't been stuck once, the traction control is doing a really good job, the anti lock brakes are great and the heated seats are a must. I love bouncing around curves and driving through drifts that have built up (to a point, I do know what the clearance is of this car, though it isn't much lower then other cars out there).

Does anyone else actually look forward to driving in the snow?

WS-60 145's all around seems to perform better in the snow than the OEM sizes. Hardly ever see the flashing triangle.

With the stock Contis on, imne does have trouble in snow more than 5 inches deep, especially if the bottom is dragging in the snow. On ice, well nothing works good on ice. I do prefer the big 4wd Expedition in the deep stuff, but thats just to protect me from the other guys that can't see a smart.. and I believe snow tires could make a big difference. I don't have any place to store them in the summer month

I got the skinny Blizzaks too and they transformed the car from a mess to a master.

Enjoying the 5th year of smart-in-the-snow. Hankook W440 snowies all 'round. In fact I'm driving delivery up to Big White tomorrow... can't wait!

Up, up, up >5,000 feet elevation above town, along 35 miles of sweet winding mountain highway. Love it!

Snow tires were the best investment for the smart so far.
