How is it so far in the icy slush?

Has anyone driven their Smart here in the cities the last few days? There are snow on the ground here in Lakeville. The streets are an icy slush. I'm wondering how the car handles so far. I've not taken mine out yet.

Raj at the smart center said it handles well in the slushy stuff. He told me if you need traction only put the tires in the back.

I would not take this recommendation. Go with the owners manual and go with all four.

Got mine last February and it was driven in snow and slush a number of times with just the stock Conti's on it. If you know how to drive a rear wheel drive vehicle in snow, you will be just fine.

It did Great, infact! Drove in snow up to 6" deep alright too using same rear wheel driving tactics as anyone knowing what they are.
Would be even better with snows all around ....to reinforce Karl's advice.

I agree with the other post. Putting in only two snows is bad. If you do this, you can certainly be able to 'push' the car but you won't be able to 'steer'. That would cause understeer.

I would always suggest going with all four or nothing.

Drove up from Rocheser to Red Wing before the roads got cleaned up. I tried to get crazy on a few bridges but it tracked straight when I hit the gas hard. The traction light did come on. I also hit the brakes hard to see what would happen. Same thing a nice straight stop. I'n thinking it will do fine as long as you drive according to the road conditions.
