Well, when i bought my smart, i was concerned about my finances, but I simply couldn't pass it up, and bought it. I couldn't be happier with my car! However, things have been tight ever since... Well, my family has an old Dodge with low miles on it and if all goes well, i'm going to take it. (I WILL own another smart when things turn around for me...)
That means, i've gotta find a new owner for Ike. It pains me to even say it. I've loved this car so much. but, here's a description, in case anyone around these parts is interested in saving time from ordering, and wants to save a couple grand...
I owe $14450 or so, and would like to break even at least. I'm not looking to make money on it, as i've gotten much enjoyment out of the car. But with the way my bank account currently is, i can't afford to lose any, either.
It's a passion coupe.. .blue/silver/black leather with the comfort package, gauges, fog lights, upgraded sound system, and alarm. retail was $16300 or something like that. I also added a scangauge. Yes, i waited a year... and now i've driven it for a year. It's carried me to Denver and back... to Ely and back.. to work and back over and over... he's got 17300 miles on him now.
I did not opt for the extended warranty, as i used to work in car sales, and know that those are just a major profit center for the dealer, and a very low percentage of people actually gain from them. However, you can still get an extended warranty on it up until 23999 miles if it's important to you (i wouldn't).
I never had any of the initial trouble with mine that some people reported. I still need to do the service 2.0 to it (tranny reprogram to bring it up to '09, was planning to do this at the next oil change).
I had my first oil change at 1500 miles, another at 9800, and was planning on another here soon as i was planning on taking it to Tennessee for a camping trip. but, now i'll save the miles and take the Dodge (i think i just threw up a little in my mouth).
I have kept every fuel receipt and have logged most of them. i'll finish logging them so you can see my fuel economy throughout its life. the worst i got on a full tank was 34 and the best was 43. i have gotten over 50 a couple times on trips to a friends house or in the hills in Denver.
I've got lots of photos, and im always up for meeting someone somewhere if they want to see it.
Here's one of the first photos i took of Ike and me.
Let me know if you have any questions You can email me at
smartfortwo2008@aol.com. I'd also be happy to send more photos if interested.
Thanks everyone! Please help me make this as painless an experience as possible. I'll feel so much better if i can find someone who is looking for this exact car and can save them a few bucks.
Steve.
