Smart Car in the Local News on 4/16??? (not the IIHS test)

Hi All --

I will be driving up to Duluth on Thursday, April 16th to argue my case before the MN Court of Appeals -- IN MY SMART CAR. The appeal regards Minnesota's smoking ban and a little-known exception for "theatrical performances" which allows actors to light up as long as they're performing. Last year, we started "Theater Night" (like Karaoke Night and Texas Hold 'Em Night) in bars around the state and it got a lot of media coverage because of the so-called loophole that allowed regular shmoes to smoke in blue collar bars -- and not just world-renowned actors at the Guthrie.

We're trying to highlight the economic plight of blue collar bar owners and our veterans clubs which have been decimated by the smoking ban.

I thought I would provide a little "eye candy" to the media. Watch the local news on Thursday.

Washington banned smoking in public places starting in 2006.

Oregon started the ban this year.

It's been proven that banning smoke does not *kill* businesses or people.

From what I've noticed, no one seems to have an issue going outside, and it makes bars and restaurants much more enjoyable for us non-smokers. I'm very pleased with the decisions made on this one, and honestly, I hope this theater night gets banned. We don't need it.
