SNOW!!!

Well for me at least my smart got to drive in snow for the first time ever. It looks like we had 0.5" of light fluffy snow here. (Nothing to pull the tires, but enough to make it slightly slippery.) I took it for a test drive on the Conti's and got the EPS light to come on and the ABS system to work. These systems only activated when I accelerated hard or stopped hard. Also I got it to under steer a little bit when I turned fast.

I am getting the Blizzak's put on today, the snow will be gone by then mostly, but at least the conti's got their run in it.

Did you manage to go to all the places you wanted to go?
Snows always work better than all seasons but the stock Continentals work well enough I think for most situations. Most of us don't need one of these to go to Wal Mart Steyr-Puch Pinzagauer 4x4 and 6x6 for sale
some will see a need...

Yeah..I drover her in the light snow today and it wasn't too much of a true test. The snow is a slushy kind, which is not a problem.

I also did a quick stop to see how the tires would behave and the ABS kicked in so it's hard to tell.

Your Blizzaks should be great......

Karl, well I got to the tire place safely...but one major instance happened.

When I went from a stop to a 40mph road my car struggled to get off the snowy roadway. When I got to the dry pavement it worked fine, but the snow caused a problem. The person that was behind me when I finally merged on the road had to significantly slow down as well.

Now I did the same intersection 3 hours later, and the road appeared the same shape...The blizzak's worked GREAT...no slip!

Also I reported an understeer issue, I tried doing that in a few areas and I couldn't get it to happen. The blizzak's will be very nice...worth the $$$ in safety and control.

(Also one of my conti's had 2 nails in it when it was taken off, the nails did not puncture through thankfully.)

did you go with all 4 or just the rears?? I have a bit of an inclined street I have to park on and the standard tires do quite a bit of slippage, but then it was hard to even walk on the street. Guess we got a bit cooler temps as the snow was freezing to the streets and sidewalks all day. I am now thinking a little harder about some snows....

Karl,

My uncle has a Pinzgauer and uses it for search and rescue missions.
