I read this on the Star Tribune forum. The topic was the Swine Flu:
Smart Car
I heard on the radio the other day that someone was driving a smart car down the interstate wearing a swine flu mask. Why worry about the flu when you're driving a death trap down the interstate? How goofy is that?
I have to ask.....is this one of you guys? Of course, I replied to this idiot's comment and put him in his place. It's obvious that he's very ignorant and very ill-informed about the car. Let's be honest-he's stupid.

I'd get a giant mask for the smart itself and put on it's frontend.
But the swine flu is a small threat and is a bit overblown.
So they're saying. Let us hope they're right. If it turns out there was an overreaction ... that's better than neglecting a potential threat. Pandemics are like hurricanes: Not a question of IF, but WHEN.

You could say the same about the 'end of the world'....."Not a question of IF, but WHEN."
I'm not in control of what others do and since, as an individual, I'm greatly outnumbered, I'm not concerning myself with it. Like someone else posted, we go through the same thing every so many years. If it happens, so be it. Like hurricanes, I can't control 'swine flu' any more than anyone else. If it DOES someday become a 'pandemic', wearing a mask will do absolutely NOTHING! Putting a mask on my smart would have the same affect.
Maybe it is a company car and he always drives with the mask on, as he is embarrassed to be seen in a smart.
A few years ago when the smart cars first came out here in Britain, a local real estate company used cars as a monthly incentive to sell houses, with the top seller getting to drive a porsche for a month, and the worst seller getting a smart.
I know it's hard to believe, but not everybody loves smart cars.

Neither car is one you can drive a couple around to show them houses
Top seller will lose that position and bottom seller will never get out of that position.

So it's business as usual for me........
I've never heard anyone with medical training suggest the masks people wear serve any purpose. But, there are things you can do to protect yourself when faced with an outbreak ... just as there are things you can do to protect yourself from threatening weather.

That remeinds me, It's that time of year when I need to make space in the basement closet for the family to hide durring tornado season.
