Cancelling My smart.....

.....sad but true. due to the economy (can't seem to sell either or both of my current vehicles) and other more important issues, i see no way of being able to take delivery of the smart that i've waited for since March.

my question is: should i cancel NOW and just be done with it OR just wait until SCI notifies me the car is in and THEN tell them? the $99 isn't going to kill me if i don't get it back until February or March. i've already reserved another one in hopes that the economy is better and in hopes that my other issue is resolved in 12-18 months. also if i am able to get that one, maybe i can get a 2010 EV, but who knows.

anyway, i would just like to get some feedback as to how YOU GUYS, my friends here on scoA, would deal with it. i'm really bummed out about this and part of me says 'just wait it out' but at the same time, i see nothing changing that would allow me to get it, even in 6 months. (i don't play the lottery..... )

I'd say, keep the reservation, and when your car comes in, IF you can't afford it, orphan it. No harm in doing that.

You don't know how your situation will be months from now... Maybe it'll turn out better than what you imagine today? So, just in case, keep your car in the pipeline for the time being. It won't hurt anyone if you make it an orphan later than earlier, won't it?

I have my original res, not sure if I will get it or not. Even if you need the $99 you won't get it for a few weeks anyway.

There is NEVER a need to cancel a reservation-unless you need the $99 deposit right away!
