Have no idea who makes the alloy wheels for smart, but it could be the wheels are porous enough (too porous actually) to leak through the metal itself. If the valve stem, tire bead, puncture, etc. have all been checked and are not the problem, it may simply be a bad set of wheels. Warranty replacement would be in order IMHO.

Over inflating tires usually shortens tire life because the tire's center section will wear out much faster than the outer areas. Wouldn't having to buy tires earlier than necessary offset the additional MPG savings in gas? The safety issue in using over inflated tires is another issue. Just a thought.

I asked about that, & Service claims that they couldn't get approval for it.

Only IF you have the "Tire & Wheel" Warranty

I would disagree. The tire & wheel warranty protect you from damage, but defect should be covered under the car's original warranty.
