Finally some SNOW!
I was caught off guard this AM when I went out with the dogs. SNOW?!? Seems you can't believe the forecasters this winter, and I guess I just don't pay that much attention during the work week.
At about 7:30 I headed out in the dark. I got up and out of my driveway easily through three inches of snow. Barely a slip. Out on to the US highway, behind a long single file row of cars doing about 35 or 40 in a 60. And that's OK. Until some bonehead gets over in the shoulder and causes a white out. Man the headwind and blowing snow was tremendous (probably minor for some of you northern Hoosiers), and the little car took it in stride.
About 4 inches of fresh powder in my driveway at my office. No Problemo. Pulled right into the garage, parked and went to work.
Flurries most of the day gave up maybe another 1/2 inch of snow or more. The roads are easlily passable, but snow covered. Not really icy slick like they have been a few times this season. All pretty and white.
What I thought was funny was some schmoe coming up on my ass at lunch. I did notice that my smart didn't like berms too much, and doesn't like to slow down without the electronics kicking in and the car wanting to swerve a bit. Especially with some guy in a 70's POS barreling down on my ass doing "normal" speed. Duh. So I'm watching in my rear and side views hoping he didn't run into me. Wasn't worried about getting hurt, just would suck having to get the smart repaired. I can imagine how that would take about a year.
Oh, the funny part was the ROOSTER TAIL I was throwing back at the guy. WOW, this thing was kicking snow up and out the back like crazy. I wasn't going that fast, but the rooster tail was almost continuous and flying back higher than the roof of my car. The rest of the trip back to my office from lunch, I was looking out the back of the car watching the "throwed snow". Made me grin.

Looking out the window right now, looks like it might also be a "fun" ride home

Snow, ......What snow? Yes we were expecting some down here in Bedford, but didn't even get enough to cover the drive, I was out this morning, and it kept trying, but nothing ever accumulated. I was wanting to see how little 7 of 9 would do, when I was off, and didn't have to hurry to work. Glad to hear from everybody that our smarts hold their own in the white stuff, and hope everyone that has snow, especially those of you up north, like Einsteins Mommy, Agent99, and all the rest of you up north are safe.

Only -2 here this AM, probably going to be bitter. I don't think the snow is going anywhere for a couple days. That's not so bad, it'll stay white for a while, instead of mushy dirty gray. Just glad I work indoors.
Yeah, the drive home was nothing. Roads are plowed all the way back to my driveway at home. Heck, when I came back from lunch, my next door neighbor at my office plowed the alley AND my parking lot! For the fun of it! He's got an old Jeep with a blade, and he just likes to "play".
I had a guy come all the way from Farmersburg (down by Sullivan, on the way to Vincinnes on 41 South) to my office to estimate blowing more insulation into my office attic. Anyway, he made a similar comment like Wildman, one county south, and NO SNOW. He said he was getting close to Terre Haute heading north toward Clinton, and all of a sudden SNOW! He said it went from nothing to 3 inches. Like someone has swept a clean edge. Funny how you can have a distinct line at the edge of weather like that. Never seen that with snow, but I've seen the after effect with hail and a distinct weather front. Thankfully after the fact.
Not much rooster tail driving home last night. Seems all the loose, packable stuff is gone. This AM, it'll probably be fluffy super cooled powder. Hope I can get out of the driveway again. If not, the Subaru is in the other bay, chomping at the bit to plow through. Happily, the seat heaters in the smart are better. I think I'll warm the engine a few minutes before heading out this time, though.

Up here all the school corps closed but us. Very angry villagers. I'm in charge of Voice Mail and responsible for an overflo line. Well at least there was no one cussing this time, yet at least, I haven't checked it for about 30 min.
Docthrock, the Indiana/Michigan line is often a very defined line for the weather up here, glad I live on the good side. Doesn't always work that way but when it does, wow.

The -2 I was reporting was from my widget on my pc. I opened the garage door, and I thought my temp gauge was a ticking time bomb. It went from 30 something to -9 before I got out of the neighborhood. Wow, it went down in a hurry.
The first guy into my office from the north end of this county said it was -16 when he left home. Ugh. Glad I work indoors.
Sure is pretty, though. Inside, looking out.

Agent 99, I saw you didn't have to go to work today! Good for you! We were closed yesterday and today.
Woke up and it was -19 with a windchill of 1-36. YIKES! I didn't take Charlie Brown out today. I didn't take myself out today. Too dangerous. It is supposed to be up in the mid-20's on Saturday. I'll try taking him for a spin then.
My new snow tires are working well. The snowing and blowing all week haven't been a problem.
By the way, be sure to remind The Tire Rack that the front tires and back tires have two different PSI's. They put both of them at 29. I made it down the bypass almost to Lincolnway when the warning light came on. I had to go back. Their little book says 29 all the way around.
