Gas prices

Don't be falsely lulled into thinking gas prices will stay down!

What are your thoughts on gas prices AFTER the election?

I'm thinking over $5 by spring

Price of oil has gone down, the government take a percentage, they do not control the prices at the pumps, the oil companies do that.

The reduction in the cost of oil has been passed on to the consumer in exactly the same way it was when the prices went up. You are still lucky compared to us in the UK. Apart from the 300%+ tax we have to pay on fuel, we haven't had the price drop passed on nearly as quickly and are still paying about $2.40 a liter.

Appears to be directly related to drop in consumption and the resulting increase in oil inventory. Watch for OPEC to drop production to maintain oil prices. On the plus side, if this keeps up it may make having a rental car on our next UK trip almost affordable.

Just read that the oil companies are feeling the squeeze due to governments are cutting way back on gas consumption and so is most ppl. The world economy is going to drive it down just like the stock market. If we keep heading down, look for prices to drop to $2 a gallon.

I think to many governments like Russa NEED the oil money to prop up there governments durring this Global economic problem. Will they be short sited and keep producing for short term gains and drive down prices or will they cut production to shore up Prices in the long term?
I hope we don't see 2 dollar gas again, If we do it means the economic crisis has gotten that worse.

Yup welcome to rip off britain! for every pound you spend on fuel, 80% goes on tax, if not more.

Mind you, we do get higher quality fuel, up to 99ron at some petrol stations, but regular is 95

It seems to me that the oil companies are pretty much in bed with all governments, and if the governments go to the oil companies and say "look, we need help to keep the economies going... lighten up on the cost a bit so we can keep people driving, and in turn consuming other goods and services. Go ahead and jack it back up once this settles down a bit."

Just an opinion. Can't back it up with any info...

But, it's nice that it's only costing me $25 to fill up again! One guy at work actually asked me if I was kicking myself now that prices were dropping... (he's socially clueless, and a bit of a jerk). but I just smiled and said "no, I'm ok that it's costing me less than $25 to fill up again. Unlike when it cost me $50 to fill up my Maxima to go the same distance." (He drives a Maxima, too).

Wow, with over $9 a gallon U.S., I'll stick with our lower octane Think I'll stop complaining about the price of gas now, thank you!
