Hail Damage?

Has anyone's smart experienced a hail storm? Just wondering what the experience was.

The storm we are supposed to get tonight includes the possibility of hail. Unfortunately I don't have an indoor or covered place to park Francois.

It wasn't big hail, just 1/4 to 1/2 inch. really loud while driving down the expressway. no damage though.

I haven't experienced any myself, but I remember a post from last year where a smart owner had a Jeep and the smart in a hail storm. The Jeep sustained moderate damage, but the smart emerged unscathed.

So, you're probably good, unless it gets big enough to take out the windshield or damage the tridion.

yeah, you have to remember that that roof material is the same stuff they use for windshields in helicopters, imagine what they must go through.

That and all the body panels are a fairly flexible plastic.

Yes, I've driven my smart in a hail storm. Beautiful thing being plastic panels and polycarbonate roof... it just bounced off. Man, it was noisy. But no damage. Now granted, if you get tennis ball sized hail or bigger, it doesn't matter what you're driving, but dime and nickel sized hail don't seem to be a problem.... so far.

Just park under a tree.
Then you won't notice any hail damage when a limb falls on it.

LOL

As it turns out, I don't think it hailed at all. I'm glad to know I don't have to worry about it too much!
