Click on the poster's name, get to the Public Profile and, at the bottom of it, a box opens up to post your message.
Yes, I know of that system, but not really what I am looking for. Something that lets them know there is a message, like a pop up screen similar to Yahoo messenger
yea, i think the only thing we have now is that the shaded area in the upper right hand corner, telling you when you last visited, shows you if you have any 'Private Messages'. its so small, i don't notice it unless i've been logged off and when i log on, then there is a 'pop up box' that tells me i have a message.
too bad that doesn't do that WHILE YOU'RE LOGGED ON TO THE FORUM!

I get the pop up box telling me I have a PM while I'm logged in the forum. Works fine for me....

Try: "User Control Panel">"Settings & Options">"Edit Options"> last item in the box "Private Messaging":
«If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message.

i wonder if it has anything to do with my 'pop up blocker' setting? i DO get that window when i first log into the forum, but not if i'm already in it and someone sends me a PM.
oh well, i don't get THAT many PM's anyway............
