I rode my Yamaha around the track a couple years ago as part of the Riley Children's Hospital thing they have the week after the 500. The track is incredibly smooth and it was a blast. Too many Harleys, but I had fun anyway. I laid back a little ti give myself some breathing room ... and when no one was watching... did a wheelie down the back straight.

There were troopers and security people spotted around on the outer edges of the track at regular intervals. And the speed limit was 35 mph. Well, I broke that a little, but not much. There were probably 2000 bikes on the track that day. It's a parade, not a hot lap.

Regrettably, there's NO WAY I can go on a Wednesday. Weekend, yes, weekday... no.

Great idea and I think you all will love the experience. Have a great time!

A WHEELIE on the BACKSTRETCH??? What ARE you, nuckin' futs?

My 'cycle' event with the 10sp was comprised of TWENTY LAPS around the track. Well, that was the max you could do. You took pledges for so much money per 'mile'. When I signed up people to donate, they asked 'so how many laps?' and I would say 'no more than 20' , but the pledges were 'per mile'....OOPS! They thought 20 laps equaled 20 MILES!

Some were a little shocked when I asked to collect $50!!!

UPDATE: Received a VM from the IMS rep. He referred me to the "500 Festival Committee", who is overseeing the event. IMS is only the 'host' that day. I contacted the committee for a meeting. I'll keep all of you informed as we make progress.

Like Walter told me, this could be a really big event for smart owners should we not only have a great turnout from Indiana but the surrounding states as well. I think he was dreaming a bit when he said 200 SMARTS! But that would be soooooo cool!!!!

Keep your fingers crossed that we can pull this off......
