Good night to all, I got my car today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been a long day, I was at work nervously awaiting a call from Max. I had everything ready, I got a call about noon saying it would be ready about 3 if that would work for me, as if they had to ask.
I left Bloomington about 1, wasn't sure how long it would take to get to SCI. North of Martinsville I saw a white Cabriolet headed south. I made pretty good time, arived at SCI about 2:20. There were smarts everywhere, I counted at least 20, but I didn't see mine. When I went in Max said he needed to see if it was ready, it was still in the detail shop. While we were waiting we got all the paper work done, watched a short movie telling about the smart, by the time it was over the car was there. Max went over everything, even though I already knew most of it from here on this forum and I had downloaded the owners manual and read through it. Max then said it was time to go for a little drive, so he could make sure I understood everything about driving her, and the different ways to shift, auto, manual with shifter and with paddles. It was going on 4, I had to leave her there, and go back to Bloomington to pick up Charla and my stepdaughter, (I was driving the mini) then back to SCI to pick up the smart. We got there got the car, had to stop and get a bite to eat then towards home. We came a different route home, I was in the smart, and Charla and Rachel in the mini. Down 65 to Seymour then across 50 through Brownstown (where regular gas was still 1.47) and home. Got here about 10, and then Charla had to spend some time sitting in her, and checking out everything.
So all in all it's been a long day but a great one. Driving on 65 was a experience, it was dark, a new car, semi's and wind. I noticed the worn spots in the road, and the turbulence off the semi's, nothing more that I expected for a car this size. Some wind noise, but not any more than my Tacoma or Lexus. Driving in auto mode will take some getting used to, seemed ok in town at low speeds, Manual mode is smooth and fun, this little motor revs pretty quick. I don't drive fast or hard usually, but you can put it through the gears pretty quick, and it's fun.
When we were getting something to eat Charla notices a couple different people looking it over, one even got down and was looking under it. That was funny.
To everybody who hasn't been to SCI, They were really great to work with, Max was super, explained the tire and wheel warranty and the extended warranty, but no pressure to buy them. He was very attentive to any questions I had and wanted to be sure I had all my questions answered. Before I left he gave me a handful of information cards to hand out when people start asking questions.
Charla took a few pictures before we left SCI, since I was parked under a light, We'll look at them tomorrow and see how they turned out, so we can get some posted.
