From the wording of the invitation, it looks like we will have an "escorted" (police escort?) ride from the dealership to downtown. That's a photo op!

i would love to meet up with you on 96th St and take some pics as you guys drive off!!

The invitation says to meet at the dealership on 96th - then at 7:30 there will be an "escorted drive to downtown" to end at 8:30 at Rick's Boatyard.

I think SCI will only feed and give out prizes to the invitees, but I can't imagine they would fuss about a few gawkers and photographers. In fact, I'm sure this is the purpose of the gathering... to garner some free PR.

They are asking us all to donate money to the Red Cross for flood relief to Indiana residents. So, there is a more serious intent here, too. A Red Cross rep will be at the event to collect the donation, and SCI will match our donations. They are asking for $10 per person, but I'm sure they will raise more than that.

But, primarily, I'm sure it is all about getting some attention and PR.

For us participants, it's just going to be a fun ride!

i sure hope you have a great turn out. it not only sounds like a lot of fun but for a very worthy cause too.

we've donated clothing of ours and taken some from our friends (with their knowledge of course ) to the "Community Church of Greenwood" on W. Main St in Greenwood. they are the designated Red Cross shelter for Johnson County. i grew up in Johnson County and lived most of my life there and still own property there. it's an area very close to my heart so we naturally chose to donate to that location what we could to help.

if it's 'ok' with everyone (SCI especially), Bambi and i would like to come by the dealership before you guys leave and maybe get a chance to meet some of you, take some pics and 'if' i can figure it out, post them on our "Indiana Smarties" Chapter.

the first 100 of you must feel very proud and very special.

I hope it is 'ok' with SCI. I love your enthusiasm about the car. I was at my brother-in-law's grad party this weekend and saw "Poppy" and her owners drive past and everyone at the party ended up thinking I was insane because of my excitement over seeing another smartie! My husband keeps telling me I need to learn self-control before Saturday because I'm going to drive him nuts seeing all those smarts! Oh well!

I really hope you can join us, at least for a little while. It'd be great to meet you!

Im hoping to see at least half of the smarts show up for this. Word is, we have received at least 50 emails back saying they will attend this weekend. It should be a fun gathering as well as for a good cause on the donations for the Red Cross.
