Mod 6; Area 451 Cruise Control

First let me say that I LOVE this cruise

I was the first one to order one! I was one of the original 200 production that came out in a plain box with NO instructions!!!

I received my CC LLOONNGG before I got my smart and then did not want to install it until I had "broken in" my engine!

Well that day came yesterday!!!!!

I installed the CC and John_H's optional LED and I defy ANYONE to find that it is NOT OEM !!!

This thing works like a charm and I now have "options" for my right leg (very important to us old farts )

Since I had gone over the instructions probably 25 times, it was a simple install. It took me about 1 & 1/2 hours (including having to undo and redo the red connector) !!

I want to thank Area 451 for a superior product.

I want to thank John_H for a superior product; superior instructions and superior "after" support. His kit really gives this unit the "factory finished" look

I also want to especially thank Steve of Smartieparts.com for including 2 pin removal tools; without which would have made my mistake with the red connector next to impossible to correct ! Thanks Steve !!!!

The ECU connector only needs 1 pin removal tool; BUT, if you screw up the red connector, those pins need 2 tools !!! What could have been a crisis, turned out to be a minor inconvenience.

Again thanks to all

I'm one happy customer ...........

It's a great product and a great group to work with. Congratulations! (And, by waiting, you didn't have to deal with those damn staples.)

Yaaaaaay for the great install !!

I'm glad there are pin extraction tools. When I realized how the red connector pins went together I was mortified at the thought of getting the wrong color in the wrong position. You did it AND you got out of it. Big high five!

I even tossed added detail on the Area451 site to try to help people avoid making the pin-style mistakes; at least those who find the details.

Here's to many years of joy with your newly installed toy!

Good for you! I was a first batch buyer too and I installed mine pretty much "off the top of my head". So far I've got around 20,000 sore leg free miles out of it so you're in for a lasting relationship with your quality cruise control.

Ahh, all this talk of staples, plain brown box, and no instructions brings me back...I felt so damned accomplished after finishing the installation. This unit's been trouble free ever since I installed it back in September or so. Now I just have to figure out what to do with all these extra staples...

I had my instal done friday morning@ midwest rally by Steve. THANK YOU Steve. This cruise is so awsome I made 2 extra trips @ 2hrs back and forth from home to the rally just to enjoy using it. And John_H
your kit is the best most complete kit I've ever used. And I forgot which wire was which during the instal so Steve sent John an email and John called my cellphone in a matter of minutes. Thanks again to both of you.

Question is, did you take pictures.

I hear ya about the right leg thing. Took Tiny Red to Dallas, first Long Trip, and my foot was killing me about 150 miles. I plan on getting one installed also.

She did get a MPG of 42.117 which is the HIGHEST that she has gotten yet. But that was first ALL HWY trip.

No pics; John_H's video is MORE than adequate

As usual, he did a great job

And I think it was forestacademy that did the filming (correct me if I'm wrong!); great job guys,
