That's just sad. What a sorry state some people exist in. And, I'm not talking about the spitter, or New Jeersey.

Next week i'll have had my smart for a full year. In that whole time I have never had anyone say anything negative about the car. Much less spit on it. Some owners just must live in some messed up states.

I probably heard about every comment has been thought of. I have taken mine to at least 7 Car Shows so far this year and I think about the same last year. I don't go out and try to change the minds of people that think it is a death trap. But I have found that there are people out there that are willing to ask about the car before forming there opinion. Those are the ones that usually take a little more time with. Then other passer buys start listening in and soon you have several that are seeing the car for what it is. A smart cool little car to drive around in. It's not a bowtie wantabe mater of fact breaks the box on your typical travel around town car. I also found it's better if I let people ask me if the car is mine before I try to explain anything about the car.
The one sign I need to make for the next show is one to place near the radiator: "ENGINE IN REAR" I've had people looking for two minutes trying to see the motor. Thats when they head back to me and ask if it's an all electric. I just say turn around it's in motor's in the back... haha

Oh, and the car has won some trophys a first place in class last year, a top 20 in show, and a top 5 Imports.

The best part about going to car shows is seeing everyone smile when they see the car. Even those that don't like the car smile while they spue their trash about the car.

Spread the Smiles...!

Once someone sits in it, they're immediately at ease. I'm not small or skinny and if i'm not in the car and Other muscle heads or hoodlums are around they'll snicker about the car, walk up to it, look inside. I sometimes walk over if I'm near and tell them if they want to see how big it is inside. They react 99% of the time with the words "Big?!, this thing is tiny!" I open the door, they sit in and immediately say " DAMM!" especially the 6'3-4 guys.. and EVERYONE!!!!! asks.. How fast does it go? My answer is the same every time. "As fast as your pucker ( Ass%$#e) will let you." They laugh.

And they leave with a first hand better understanding of the car. The same way we rave about our cars, the folks that at first snicker and then actually see inside of one or learn anything about the car, they in turn will usually tell other folks who dog the car/brand hat they've seen them, or been inside them, etc..
People are just afraid of what they don't know. It happens with Aliens all the time......
