did any other Indiana smarties get offered via email a 2008 Passion with the "RennTech Tuning Kit" from Walter at SCI?
did some research and it's suppose to raise the HP from 71 to 74 and make the shifting smoother and more precise.
anyone have any more info on this kit? what all does it consist of and how much is JUST THE KIT?
i emailed Walter to ask 'how much' for the car. the email i got from him asked for a $1,000 deposit to 'hold' it. since i just sold my Toyota and now have a SERIOUS buyer for my Jeep, i may have to get an ophan or buy something else.....
$333.33 plus per horsepower is amazingly insane. Why not supercharge or turbo and end up with an improvement that you might be able to notice.
I didn't do the RENNTech ECU but I did do the Veloce ECU which was about $575 when I got mine done and there was a definite notice in power, response and shifting.
The RENNTech ECU buy it's self is $795 - you can do it directly through them I believe. Install time is no more than 15 min so dont let anyone rip you off on install

sorry, when i said mentioned the $1,000, that was the deposit on the CAR with the RennTech kit already installed. i've not gotten a reply from SCI as to what they are actually ASKING for the car OR how much the kit is.
maybe i'll find out tonight that i get one of the Brabus'. no more HP, but damn if i won't be LOOKIN' GOOD!!!!
Seems it would be more economical to install a Doug Thorley exhaust system ($350 or so) increases HP by 6-7. You can definitely feel the increased power and much smoother shifts! I have the stealth single exhaust and am quite pleased with the performance and sound!

i'm not saying i would buy this RennTech smart, but i WAS curious as to what the 'kit' was that they installed. as i said, i have yet to hear back from our smart center.
besides, my original plan was to install a dual center-exit exhaust if for nothing else, LOOKS!

Received the same offer, also interested in the price. I too would have put on the Doug Thorley headers for the cost vs. HP. I declined the offer. Still haven't canceled my reservation, but getting closer.

funny, i was thinking the same thing: put black stripes on it like a Mini. mines White/Black. we have a Green/White 03 Mini on the used car lot now with ONLY 39k miles......LOOKS GREAT! and it's a MANUAL!!!!!
