you do not have to go away unless it for your own sanity while you wait. You should probably stay, read and learn about the car and its ups and downs in the very informative threads that ARE here.
ding, ding, ding....we have a WINNAH!!! you said it best Mo. and thanks for forgiving me and the kind words.
it's not that i wanted to put them up on a pedestal. i only wanted them to be better than a Chevy, Ford or Chrysler dealer. i got news for them: selling your cars for list price doesn't make you better than the competition, it's communication your customers that will make the difference. offer me all the free bottled water you want and that's fine, but fail to return one email, especially after you have acknowledged it?, sorry....i'm NOT impressed. and don't get me wrong, it's not all SCI and Max. it's smartusa as well. i emailed a contact of mine to check on a couple delivery dates for other forum members, and i got the "I'll be glad to check on that and get back to you" email but again, NOTHING! if' they're THAT understaffed, then maybe they need to work a little 'smart'er.....
but this afternoon i DID get an email back from Max but to be honest, haven't read it. not sure i even want to or will. 'maybe' by the time my car comes in (well that is if they find the time to even call or email me) i'll take delivery and deal with them at that time. until then, i'm checking out of the forum and you won't find me traveling to the dealership either. God knows i don't want to be considered a 'pest'!!!
since i wasn't in attendance at your SCI "First 100 Meet & Greet Drive and BBQ" last Saturday, did anyone (Max, Walter, Matt, etc) happen to mention 'how many total' smarts they have delivered to date? also about what 'reservation number' they had delivered last?
just curious.......
"The problem with people is that they're soooooooo HUMAN!"

Not to sound too obvious, but since the celebration was for delivering 100 cars.......
plus they received 10 more the Friday before the event. Guess that makes 110?

.....and i thought that "I" was "Mr Obvious".
well, i've heard on this forum they deliver about 20-25 cars per month and since they opened in January, that would be about 100-125 or so, but i was just curious as to the EXACT FIGURE through the month of May.
since they're supposed to be on an allotment of 300 cars per year, that would work out to an average of 25 cars per month. but again, i just wanted to see where they were actually as opposed to where it is assumed they are.
Jeepster, I spent the whole day at SCI yesterday. Long story BAAAAAD AUDIOCAR CENTER IN CHAMPAIGN URBANA called VIBEZ PERFORMANCE AUDIO. DO NOT GO THERE EVER!!!! Anyway, The orphan list is much longer than 130 right now, but they hardly get any orphans. They are reserving about 40 cars a week. The US allotment **MAY** go up. There **MAY** be more dealerships starting in 2010. SCi delivered 5 cars yesterday and the place had people looking all day, a few registered while I was there.

Meaux
thanks "meaux" for the info. sorry to hear about your BAD experience with aftermarket audio installers. hope all is well NOW!
with the stats you mentioned, i certainly hope the allotment would go up. with them only delivering about 25 cars per month and at the dealership they're taking 40 reservations per WEEK, somethings got to give. i doubt that they ever want to be in the position of other manufacturers and have 'inventory' and especially 'surplus inventory', so there will always be a waiting list. i just can't see the average American accepting a wait of 2 YEARS to get a car, even a smart!

see the difference?
Not really, does it really make a difference if they have delivered 110 or 120 cars? I understand that it is hard to be patient waiting for your car, especially with a DDE AUG-OCT 09, but is 10 cars really going to make a difference? Do you know of any other car dealer that is going to tell you EXACTLY how many cars they sold each month? I don't think so. Wait 3 more days, and Daimler will announce how many smarts have been sold so far.
I guess maybe my attitude has changed a little in the last few weeks regarding discussions on here, maybe it's because I already did my time and waited for my smart, but it seems the discussions posted have become increasing meaningless. I mean come on, a 4 page thread on why we can't turn off A/C during defrost? 438 replies on the DDE? I really appreciate the posts regarding problems and fixes for issues people are having, even threads regarding mpg's and service quality at dealerships, but it seems that a great deal of the discussions have spiraled down into meaningless banter that SCOA members are accusing the smartusainsider forum of being designed for. The point is, you are either willing to wait or not. If not, get on the oprhan list or go buy something else. If you are willing to wait, as 10,000 of us have so far, then be patient, ask appropriate questions, and learn from those of us who have real world experience in our smarts. But meaningless banter does nothing more than waste server space and take up bandwidth.
OK, I'll get off my soapbox now and go put on my cup......

White and Black, I agree with you. I try to find threads that will help me and my smart and try to avoid the more speculative threads. There is still a great deal of useful information here.
Jeepster-- NO, not all better, worse. They cut the wire from my FM modulator to splice it to the antenna that they cut (thus voiding the warrantee), and I have now paid over 800 dollars for slightly better AM reception on my SMART, no XM reception and a total rip off by VIBEZ in Champaign.

When I was at SCI a week ago, Max told me that he is telling new reservationists that the wait IS 2 years ! I guess time will tell. I can wait for mine. Waiting 162 days and counting! May the smart be with you!
