They contacted Smart in London and I got back on the list and configured the next day. They always have responded with a call or an e-mail within a day. I try not to bug them or even go to the dealership because I know much is not in their control. I will get the car, which by the way is just a car, when I get the car.
Some time ago they offered me an orphan and went out of their way to work with me and make a sale. I did not buy the orphan but the reason had nothing to do with SCI or Max or Walter.
Every list is full of trivia but it must be important to someone or it would not be there. I just ignore what I am not interested in and follow the interesting leads. For example I am very interested in the cruse control question but not so interested in other people's date of delivery. Selfishly I really only care about mine.
SCI, Max and Walter may be ax murder's in private life but they have been good to me.

Good to hear and nice to know. And you are correct; there is much "misinformation" here and on all forums. I too just follow the ones I'm interested in. I too have only been treated like royalty by SCI. Thanks Richard

YEP! i think it was September 9th we got the invite. we talked about it that evening and i went online the next night to configure.

after much deliberation, we went with a White/Black Passion with the Comfort Pkg and all the other options. current DDE says "June-August 2009" but if my pattern of DDE changes continues, it will move up again in October.

so for now we just sit back and wait........AGAIN!

..I will agree that SC Indy was a real eye opener for us..I bought every car I ever owned from a dealer and the reservation, configure and delivery of our smart was one of the most pleasant experiences we ever had with a car dealer, including plate, which was there within a couple of weeks...

Ours took 32-days on our next one I'm asking for a 60-day temp tag just to be safe...

i 'may' be wrong, but i believe by Indiana Law they are only allowed to give you ONE 30 day temp plate. that's because they are required by law to supply you with either a title or a C of O (Certificate of Origin....for new cars never titled) within that 30 day period.

you just need to stay on top of them to get your paperwork within a couple weeks. with car sales as slow as they are, there should be no reason it should take any longer. after all, you will pay a late fee at the BMV if you don't get it registered within 30 days from your purchase date, regardless of WHEN you received your papers.

I consulted an attorney and the theory is they have 21 days to get paper work. Then you can demand delivery and they get 10 days from your demand.
If they still can't deliver then you get a refund of your all your expenses. Purchase price, delivery fees, sales tax, insurance and finance charges and they get the car back.
I demanded delivery end of last week.

It will be interesting to see if you get a full refund!

Total 39 days.
Picked up paper work and got plates today.
Dealer provided free loaner car for 10 days and paid late fees at BMV for my trouble.
