Trip to the Dealership

I thought I'd start a section for those of us who don't live near a dealership, but are heading that way. We could pony items back with us. I am leaving for Indy on Monday afternoon. I'll be back Wednesday night. If any of the SINr's in my area need something they can send me a PM. I'll have access to my computer and the internet while I am there.

I drove from Oregon to the "Home of the Fighting Irish," spent a day there last month (dad's funeral) and continued down to Orlando. Not one Smart sighted in South Bend or on the way to or from. Although I wasn't driving the smart at the time. 3300 miles without a sighting.

Isn't the drive to the dealer just over 3 hours? A lovely chance to get the Smart out on the road would be as simple an excuse as picking up a Smart French Fry (compliant cargo confinement).

It's been a while since I've driven it, but I don't think it's 3 hours from South Bend to Indy, is it?

It's about 2 hours and 15 min from Argos to smart center Indy, and South Bend is about 30-45 min. depending on traffic, so 3 hours would be about right

I was born in St. Joseph Hospital but left behind many relatives when I did time in Leavenworth (at 18 months my Army father moved the family to the Army facility at Fort Leavenworth).

I still have family in or near South Bend. I don't anticipate Smarting through Indiana, at least no time soon. If I make the big cross-country trip by car, I'll probably take the southern route: northwest to southwest to south to southeast.

Charlie is having his oil changed on Thursday. He only has 6,500 miles, but summer is easier for me to get down to the dealership. I'd be happy to haul anything that will fit in Charlie for the trip north....
