Warranty Repair today

Had to take the smart in for some Warranty repair today.

Heater fan would only work when it wanted to. Seemed to be the worst when it was cold. They replaced my control switch because it was burnt out, and the blower motor went with it. I was told they have seen control swithces going out, but not the blower motor also.

Also, shifter was getting "stuck" at reverse when I would shift into Park. I would have to go back to drive and then to park again. They were able to duplicate the issue, and determined the shift mechanisms need lubed. It seems to move much smoother now. Hopefully it doesn't do it again.

I dropped off my car at 8am and by 10am they were done. I was very happy with the service.

I'm having a similar issue with mine right now. Blower not working all the time. After testing, I've concluded it's a loose connection inside the blower housing, I grab the wires and wiggle it, and it comes right back on. I'm out of warranty, and Joe told me the blower is $297 . Think I'll pull it out myself and attempt a repair this weekend.

Yes, please let us know. Since you're in Plymouth, we kind of figured you could have gone to either SCI or one of the smart centers in Chicago.

I am sorry..It was Charlie at SCI that I worked with. I also got to talk to Walter, and showed off my new Kenwood Radio.

Joe must have had the day off because Charlie was in his office. I told him he is a funny looking Joe....

Joe was on vacation this week. I called down to talk to him to see if my new roof (mine current one is crazing) was in yet. I called and had them order it 3 weeks ago and hadn't heard anything since. I go down Tuesday to have my roof replaced and my passenger door checked out (it grinds in the hinges when I open/move it).

I dove in tonight, and repaired my heater blower myself. If they charge more than 20 minutes to change the blower, it's too much! I even took pictures and wrote up a tutorial: http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...-repair-26967/

Of course mine wasn't the switch or the resistor, but the motor itself. Hope it helps others out of warranty!
