Anyone using slingbox?

Since we will be living in Frankfurt Germany for the next 3 years, a friend suggested we hook up slingbox to our Texas home to watch American TV in Germany. Any smarties familiar with slingbox? Does it work good ? Would you want slingcatcher too?

I use one all the time.. not the HD one though... just an old standard def one..
It's pretty good if you have a decent connection. Each version of the software they put out, the quality seems to get better.

I have mine hooked to one half of my Dish Network Dual DVR..

I watch it when I am out of town with my Laptop..
and my son uses it to watch tv from his college apartment to save him the cost of cable.

don't know how it would work in Europe.. but I suppose if the bandwidth is there it would be fine.

I've had one since they first came out - I have friends without tv who have my sling set up on their computers, I have it on my mobile phone, I use it on my computer when I'm traveling, etc. Work great. I don't have a slingcatcher, and don't see why you'd want one if you're using the slingbox remotely. I think it's for extending your tv viewing in the same house as the slingbox - for watching on tv's that don't have cable or satellite inputs. - sheureka

Who do you have hosting the slingbox?

You may want to consider getting a DVR where the slingbox is. Remember your 7 hours ahead in Germany, so watching Primetime TV will be a challenge on your sleep.
