Light Tape: bending light... and other applications

I think this light tape has many possibilities. If one can wrap on ones finger, why not a car?

Looks pretty nifty. Is it on the market yet?

The Link is for AC Indoor

But it does have a "smart driver"

And the DC Version is for 9V Electro-LuminX® Lighting Corp. : Classic Series Indoor 9V DC

I inquired about a 12v application of their light tape and they did reply that there is one for automotive use. I'm waiting for their regional rep to contact me about the details.... We will see

My question to them is:What is the amperage draw ? What is the actual voltage input (AC-DC) ?

From these answers we can derive a solution.

I for one, am interested.

They give a power usage per sqaure foot on their site somewhere.

All EL lamps will be driven from an AC voltage anywhere from slightly below 100 to 200+ VAC. The 9V or 12V lamps they offer simply have the AC driver built in. It's very low current stuff at the AC voltages.

Just as I surmised. Can the units be connected in series ?
Can the product be purchased without power unit ?

Inverters are very economical.

John; I realize you don't have the answers at this time, I am just posing questions for you to ask when they get in touch with you.

Please keep us informed.
