netbook help, since the other forums...

Hey you, yea you, yes that guy looking at the screen. Anyways i need some help. Its on my HP mini 1035NR netbook, hard drive issue. (I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO POST BUT HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS ARE SMARTER THAN THEN THE KIDS NEXT DOOR!(other tech forums)) Errr anyways it seemed like i messed up my drive and giving me the blue screen of hell, then the bios telling me that the drive is messed up and i need to back it up if i dont want to lose all my pictures. So is there anyone out there that can offer my advice on where to buy a new hard drive NOT SSD and NO Ebay?! yes i know that SSDs are uncool, speed up performance by like 2 seconds, overly expensive, and everyone is installing them, but id rather get another hard drive like my current one, because theyre cheaper and $100 is a waste of money getting an SSD, and im not exploring the jungle either! So is there one soul here that could recommend such a place? i'm pretty sure its a 1.8 or 1.5 inch HDD, either that or i ship it to HP, which i almost doubt theyre going to fix it since i think i might have messed it up myself, even though im still under warranty.

Personally I think SSD are cool. They have no moving parts and the prices are coming down.

Have you checked Tiger Direct? Have you tried NewEgg? Have you tried iconCompUSA? Have you tried 3Klix? Have you tried JustNetbooks?

I hope this helps

Go to newegg.com

Best prices and service. (I've been a customer for years)

But I am really confused...Did you drop the PC? Or did the HD just fail, or do you need to reinstall windows? Also do you have a Solid State Disk in there now?

From these, and your other comments: You say you didn't drop it, but you messed it up. It sounds like you do not suspect a hardware problem, but that something somehow has become corrupt with your operating system. If that's the case, then you don't need a new HD, but just to reinstall the OS.

If you're sure you need a new HD, and if you can't get the information in any other way, call the manufacturer to get the specifics on the type of drive you need. Google it.

Can you reboot into Safe Mode, plug in an optical drive, and reinstall whatever Windows this came with on CD?

When I was looking to upgrade mine the drive was a 1.8 pata with a zif plug.To see what yours uses go here

HP PartSurfer

plug in your model and serial numbers and it will tell you what part numbers you have, from there you google the part number and get a manufacturers number and then shop.It would be much cheaper and easier just to rma it,after you recuva or somehow get your pics off the old hard drive. These guys can help

MyHPMini.com • Index page

hope this helps
