Putting the brakes on running red lights - Mercedes Benz 'Smart Stop' technology

I think Smart Brakes are cool but some think it might be a little too intrusive. Perhaps if it just warned people about the changing light? It might be similar to the device in some Mercedes vehicles that activate the brakes if ones vehicle gets too close to another?

The implementation of this device with the required roads and upgrade of lights would be very expensive.

What does it do for the guy behind me who operates on the rule that a light that just turned red has time for two more to make it through the intersection? Running a fresh red light is expected around here.

Looks like the Cleveland Heights, OH police have a great opportunity for revenue by buying and installing red light cameras. The police are processing hundreds of tickets a week per camera out here.

Y'know... What ever happened to the concept of being responsible enough to drive the car?

If you need technology such as this to drive, I submit that you don't have any damned business being behind the wheel in the first place.
