If one accepted the trade-off of readability (only one sensor reading would display large enough to be easily read), the X-Gauge's ability to sit in one of the instrument pods was a great selling point. It will be missed. The ScanGauge allows one to monitor four sensors simultaneously, each quite easily read. Here's another take on an OBD monitor, the Auterra DashDyno, that monitors even more than the ScanGauge, and has the added ability to show data graphically, download accumulated readings to your Windows PC or Palm and even interface with a GPS and Google Earth mapping.

I have the Auterra system for my Subaru. It is extremely, NOT user friendly, doesn't work to read a lot of what it say's it will do and is generally a pain in the butt. Frankly, it is such a pain, I just go to Autozone and use the free one.

I strongly recommend you don't buy the Auterra....it doesn't work well, and support is not very good either. It is literally just generic software with a patch cable.

gmkid's posted link is worth looking at and sending a note to the developer to show interest...competition is good

In fact you all should send a lot in product for Smart car inquiries to Jeggs, Summit, JC Whitney and any other supplier of aftermarket goodies

The ScanGaugeII is a real easy piece of equipment to use. I have had mine for a year or so and have used it to read codes and reset the OBDII computer on several cars for my friends. The manual is straight forward for setting up the calibrations on the fuel gauge functions and it is fairly accurate on my cars.

The one thing I wished the scangauge was a little better at is its updating. It updates the info about once every second which I would appreciate it being a little faster for the speed and rpm ranges.

The sales e-mail for Liner Logic is: scangauge@linear-logic.com Recommend those interested send them a quick message to let them know they have a target audience and it's growing. The HQ is in Mesa, AZ if any of the AZ members would like to drop in and get some current info on the scan gauge optimized for smart.

I have the scan gauge II in my 451 smart fortwo, have done a little install on it so it sits in the far corner of the dash, works great on the 451 without any issues. Love the real time horse power and air temp, plus since I didn't have the big pods I now have rpm readout via the scan gauge.

We are doing a further custom install of the scan gauge but are waiting on a part for the install, but we will be mounting it into the car so that it appears to be factory as we are trying to keep a very clean look.

I highly recommend it to anyone, I'll do a full review on the unit once I have it built into the car, but might be another week as the parts for a bunch of installs are delayed
