Richmond, Virginia is having theirs on the 20th also. They had a registration cutoff of 1 September "TONIGHT". 4 smarts are registered for this event. Theirs covers Great Britian and European models. Enjoy.

My classification is "German brand cars". Would you experts on smart consider it a German brand? I believe none are made in Germany, but there is M-B C-Class production in South America, M-B SUV production in USA, and so forth. It's the brand I consider important. What do you consider smart to be?

The best choice I've made in cars for a long, long time!

Seriously, I consider who the "Manufacturer" is, whether it's Chrysler, Ford, GM, Daimler, Toyota, etc. Chrysler, Ford and GM would be considered built by an "American" manufacturer , even though many are actually assembled outside the U.S.

Toyota, even though most for our market are built here in the U.S., is still in my mind a Japanese manufacturer. Daimler, the parent company for MB and smart, is a German manufacturer with as you put it, plants all over the world. smartville is just one of those plants.

In my opinion, smart should be represented....but it's really up to the organizers of the meet, not SCOA, smart owners or myself.

Let us know what the meet organizers consider the smart and if they agree with me, then we might make the trek to Columbus.

So is the "Mini" included under the BMW banner? Its owned by BMW but built in Oxford England. If it is, then the smart should be included under the MB banner.

On the Daimler website, smart is shown as a Mercedes "brand" along with M-B passenger cars and the Maybach line. I think M-B considers smart to be a German car, no matter where it's assembled.
