Come join us for our Santa Hat Project for our smarts. We plan to start the sewing in October and then drive our cars, with the hats, in one or more of the local holiday parades.

October gathering idea - smart CARolinas

Pics of the sample and other details are at the other end of the link.

Pattern and materials have been selected and will need to be ordered no later than October 9th, hat count by October 1 would be best.

Cost $25.00 per hat

I may have to dig out the white panels and santa hat for this Christmas...

Just an FYI to everyone else...the club is not making then selling the hats and there is no profit for the "club" or individual members. We are making our own hats, with each others' help and we need all the help was can get.

Well I'm in for the hat making. I'm wondering how washable and weather resistant the material will be that the hats will be made from. I also have 65 mph commutes and wonder if the hat is safe at that speed. I wonder alot about alot of things.

.... this'll give me the escuse to stop by smart in Pineville, NC to complete the smart visitation trifecta. I got my car at my local dealer smart center Cary and stopped by smart center Winston-Salem coming back from TOTD. I just need to stop by smart center South Charlotte and my life will be complete.

The hats are made of red polyester felt and white trim; weatherwise should be okay; the intent for highway drving was not in the plan, just local...not sure what it would take to make it highway-worthy.

Where there is a will...there has to be a way.

Oh, I just saw this thread- I would love to make a Santa Hat for my car,too. I guess I'm passed the deadline for ordering the materials with you all and the 17th doesn't work for me, either. Would someone consider sending me a copy of the pattern and I could make it myself. I actually think I'd like to put a pink Santa Hat on my car anyway and I can sew everything myself if I have the pattern and instructions. I'd also love to participate in any parades you're doing.

I have a santa hat I could sell. We are moving to Germany and I have to leave my smart behind. Pictures of hat are in my gallery. Worked great the last 2 christmas.
