Tire pressure way off

Decided to check the tire pressure on my new smart. The levels in the tires from the dealer were set at 38psi all around. Boy was this way off for the front tires. No wonder the ride felt harsher than when I test drove the car.

I brought the rears down to 36 and the front down to 30. I have some miles to put on tomorrow so I will see how it feels on the local roads and highway.

Oh I also did my first fill up, wow a full tank of gas for $21. Not like when I fill my truck and spend $48.

Smart tire pressure.

A recent e-mail from Smart indicated that tire pressure should be set at 32/35 for front and rear.

Hmm, any way I could see a copy of that. My car was made in September and the placard says to inflate to 36/29.

My door sticker says the same. I did just have my snow tires mounted on the rims and on the car a couple days ago. Being compulsive, I checked the tire pressure the next day when the tires were cold. They were set at 32 all around. I assumed that was inattention on the installer's part and set them to 36/29. Maybe they were at 32 intentionally....guess I'll email the dealer and ask. Will post the response.
