OK folks, the "mighty ones" have graced us with our own Chapter/sub-forum. Many thanks to SMART and the moderators for this privilege.
Let's use this power wisely.....
Greetings from the lowcountry of SC. As you can see from my addresses to the left I have dual citizenship in the Carolinas Chapter.
Oddly enough - I saw another smart for the first time on the road last week in Asheville. I remember telling my wife how small it was - I hadn't thought of it like that until I had this fleeting glimpse of another one in traffic. It was black with silver tridion. Mine (ours) is white w/ silver tridion and South Carolina plate SMRT4-2

Hi Bull it worked!!!! I am going to start work on the decal Monday. I think a lot of us have tinted windows so going for exterior application still going to use smart logo with carolina region under it. Plan to have it made in white overall no more than 4.5" tall with carolina/region stacked. I have a meeting with my graphics guy on monday will start the ball rolling and should have them when we all get together. I got e-mail from Matteo late friday will respond to him on monday. Am asking him for place roped off up front for all of us to park and contacting all owners in region that don't read this forum. I have met Karen and Felix they are both very nice I think we can count on their support. I will post Matteo's reply and keep everyone informed if their are any changes. I saw where someone asked what happens if it rains I think they will let us hangout in the showroom and see who has the best wax job Ha! I still have the club booked hope we have a better count by late June so he can staff properly. Club is private so our group will be the only customers till 5pm if some of us stay that long. Think everyone will find it a fun place we do have outside brick courtyard to hangout in so we all can admire our little smarts. If anyone has any other ideas feel free to share. Give me a call if anything comes to mind. Tom [ HAVE SMART WILL TRAVEL]
NOW we are getting somewhere! Which reminds me, I need to get my windows tinted.
Can't wait to see the stickers. Let me know when you finalize something and I will try to get up with you for a "sneak peek".
After a one year wait, Matteo delivered our S/B/B Carbio to us on Saturday, 5/31.
We put the top back and headed for 485 (HWY). Saturday evening went to Cruise Night at the Arboretum and stole the show - smart is an instant rock star!
Questions and comments can be endless. You really need to add extra time to your errand as smart will draw a crowd. I will be supplementing the Q&A sessions with a SMARTCARd (business card) that summarizes many of the items people are asking.
First impressions: While a short wheelbase, ride is far better than expected. A/M transmission is a bit quirky but after a few miles becomes your friend. Peppy, no problem keeping up with traffic - they usually are still eyeballing smart as you leave them in the dust. HWY speeds feel more secure than expected. Handling exceeds my expectations. Too early to know MPG but looking for great numbers.
Edmunds said it best - smart gives you the most SPM (Smiles Per Mile).
Looking forward to the July event.
Tom

Hey Tom. First off, a big "CONGRATS" on your new baby! Second, welcome to SCOA, and specifically the Carolina Chapter.
I am glad things are going really well for you. I didn't know about the Cruise Night at the Arboretum. I'm probably too old for that though. hehehe
I see you are in Tega Cay. There is another smart in your neck of the woods, a yellow passion coupe. His name is Joel and a really nice guy. Posts here under the guise of p1nball, so you may pass him at some point.
Hope to see you at the "Meet" and put a face with the name.
Bull
Wrong Cruise Nite - actually a gathering of geezers (and my wife sez I do qualify) who drive over to Good Old Days (diner) and show off their (low mileage, high octane) hot rods from the past. In fact BS (before smart) we would go over with our Mustang King Cobra.
As for location, home is South Charlotte and business is Tega Cay so rather than hit the 485 parking lot I often go the backway using 521 (just N of your neighborhood).
