This is Marlon,
I just wanted to give a warm thanks for those who made it out to the Smart Meet today Nov 15th. I enjoyed everyones personality and unique-ness. Thanks Bill again for coordinating everything at the Hotel and the cruise around the Warner Robbins.
I hope to see you all again on Dec 6th. I will ofcourse let everyone know more info after I speak to Grene @ Smart Center Buckhead.
i hope everyone made it home safe and man ohh man was that O'charles food good.
Don't forget the stragglers... such as us. We drove as fast as possible from Sarasota and arrived at 10:04. This was 4 minutes late. Bummer. Lo and behold there was no one there. If we would have had a phone no. we could have caught up. It took us an hour to get there. Sorry we missed this event.
Perhaps next get together we could meet at a quarter to ten for example, and then leave at ten.
We had a total of 6 cars, met at 12:00 PM at the Jameson Inn in Warner Robins, GA . We had 2 very nice young ladies from smart center Buckhead that came down in a red Cabrio, we all laughed and told stories for for about an hour, then went on a ride through the main streets then on to O'Charlies for lunch. We broke up around 3:30PM and agreed to another meet in Atlanta on Nov 6th!
It was alot of fun and great to meet the faces and fun personalities behind the screen names.
That's the short version of what happened! Can't wait for the next meet!
Thanks Broberts and 2Micro4u for getting everything together!
Just my .02, but HGB has a point. Any such meet ups need to have contact phone numbers, back up locations and it's always a good idea to have a meet time and then a drive off time, with some allowance for traffic, weather and other unforeseen delays. Anyway, congratulations on the meeting and the turnout - if it had been just a little closer I'd have driven down.
For clarity's sake... and because I'm the guy who made the decision to leave before HGB got to the Tampa meet... I had HGB's number and accidently left it at home... I made it a point to try to have the contact numbers for everyone who had confirmed attendance.
Also, we would have waited a couple of minutes but there was a cap on the number of cars that could be admitted to the car show and there was a genuine concern that if we waited we wouldn't be able to get in. As it turned out there were no issues but it I had no way to know that at the time. I called HGB as soon as we got setup at the show but by then it was too late.
I thought this had been settled... And I'm not sure why it was brought up in a Georgia meet thread...
Thanks, I was wondering about that also... did we mis-communicate...I was wondering why a Florida member would want to go to a Georgia meet, but anyone is more than welcome!
The November 15th cruise-in in Warner Robins was great. I tried to “pass the hat” for Marlon to help pay for his speeding ticket but no one was willing to pitch-in. No problem though because he claims he will “beat the rap” … RIGHT! Judge Judy’s number is 800-TUF-LUCK
We really had a fun time. It appears that smartcar owners are not only the best looking people; we also have the greatest personalities (and we are also very modest).:
A special thanks to Victoria & Paulette from smartcenter Buckhead – they added charm and knowledge to the group.
Kevin (smartcar on order) really added class to the meet by brings his BEAUTIFUL 1957 Rolls Royce. We are contemplating a cross breeding; trying for a Rollscar or possibly a Smartroyce.
I have some great pictures and I will be working on getting them on the forum tonight.
Looking forward to the next meet – Dec 6 in Atlanta. Let’s really talk-it-up and get a BIG crowd. I hope Buckhead will encourage people who have a car on order to come. Prospects considering ordering one are welcome too. We might consider a cruise to the Varsity for lunch or dinner.
