Was just wondering if anyone else has had any ice and snow driving excitement? Driving to work Thurs. I turned right onto snow and smooth ice covered road, smart plowed, then the ESP kicked in and car was doing 4-wheel drift at 30mph, nice. Luckily I was slowing down the whole time, so it finally got traction. It was exciting there for awhile though especially since there were two cars waiting at the road I was turning onto. Is it the tires? I'm personally not fond of these Contis. Next year I'm going to get something else.

I've been really impressed with the handling on snow and ice. In fact, on Monday, there were a bunch of people spinning their tires and sliding backwards on the way up MLK from downtown to 235. I was able to drive right past them and didn't have any problems stopping and starting either.

On the weekends and Smiley's wife days off?
Have you reserved your smart yet? Every time I take it somewhere people stop and ask what it is and what kind of mileage and do I like it. It can be tiring to have sooo many people stop and stare and point.... oh well I guess that's what you have to put up with when there are so few of them on the local roads. When I went to the county treas. for plates even they asked if it was a car.
So far it's still a blast to drive though. I'll put up with a lot for that.

I just got an email from smartcenterlavista. My car should be ready in 6-8 weeks. I'm still trying to figure out if I should go thru with the purchase. I have a question for those of you that already purchased. Did you have to pay NE sales tax or IA? Did the dealership take care of filing everything with your county? I'm trying to figure out how much work they are going to have to do for the $279.

When I got my car, I signed a Nebraska Tax Exemption Certificate, so I had to pay Iowa Tax when I picked up my plates. The dealer took care of filling out the title application and sending to the county. I got a letter from the County about 3-4 weeks later saying that they had issued my title. I went into the county office and they had everything all ready, and all I had to do was write the check for Tax and Registration.

I signed the Ne tax waiver also and then paid Iowa tax when registering. LaVista sent the title to me and I had to get new one when registering. Also got proof of purchase or bill of sale, whichever...
