Anyone want to start a central Iowa smart car club? We've got three who are interested so far. Probably just get together once a month, maybe drive to a location and display cars.

Whoever owns the Black/Black Smart, I was at the Toyota Dealership yesturday testing the Yaris (btw, yuck) and they mentioned you. Later in conversation I hear one of the senior salesmen say that, "Well the people who make the stupid choice in buying those cars, is that they got to get it towed to Chicago from here to get repairs!"
He said this after I told him I was debating between the two cars. Bad Move buddy...Also another comment was made, "What if the car gets hit, there is this much (holding up his hands) room between you and the other car." Then I got on my soapbox in the Toyota dealership and told all of the smart, and a few people began to listen and actually thought WOW. I wish I had my Smart Brochure.
After I left I assume all of the customers and sales people got on there PC and went to smartusa.com to reserve one!

I own the all black smart. There is an all silver also in town. He and I know each other, but I didn't even know that he was getting his smart until he asked if I wanted to see his new car.
I would like to know from the Toyota guys if the smart is sooo unsafe why is Toyota coming out with the IQ?

When I got my car, I signed a Nebraska Tax Exemption Certificate, so I had to pay Iowa Tax when I picked up my plates. The dealer took care of filling out the title application and sending to the county. I got a letter from the County about 3-4 weeks later saying that they had issued my title. I went into the county office and they had everything all ready, and all I had to do was write the check for Tax and Registration.

Is your Smart yellow & black? My office is about 24th and Grand. I saw a yellow and black going north on MLK a couple weeks ago and couldn't see where they were going.

Was wondering how it was going with your smart. Have one reserved on 5/24/07. Looking at the dealer costs, etc. Have talked to the dealers from both LaVista and Minnesota. Interesting

Howdy! Former Iowan now Texan, I drove a Smart Last Monday. Very roomy, a little weird transmission. The dealer Park Place is a Porche, Mercedes, Lexus, Smart I wonder if we will be the redheaded stepchild in the service dept. Sounds like it's still winter there, 75 here today. Enjoy your Smarts
