I live in Nevada. smart is all black with leather, gages and fog lights. I've got 3400 miles and right now getting 42-45 mpg on my 22 mile daily commute using 90 octane Conoco gas. I've had no problems other than the tires were over 45 psi from dealer and leaving parking lights on over night requiring battery to be put on charger. Which can be a little bit of a pain to get everything out and back in again.
I have a Yellow/Black Cabrio in Des Moines, with everything but Fog Lights. I haven't had any major issues at all (aside from the WAY over inflated tires from the dealer), but I usually drive in Automatic mode, and it sometimes seems to get confused at low speed about whether it should be in 1 or 2, especially when coasting. Overall, it's great!
I live in Ottumwa, I have the Passion, with Black paint and Tridion cell, I have tinted windows, black leather interior. Got all of the extras. I have periodically had the same issues regarding whether it knows I'm in a lower gear or not. (I am chalking it up to still getting used to driving it. I've only had it for 2 1/2 weeks now.) I have been getting about 45 -50 mpg, I have driven it to Wisconsin twice, and probably will at least two more times in the next two weeks. I have been using a mid grade gasoline. I am now at 1500 miles on my Smart.
I just placed an order for a Cabriolet. Red with Black cage. Took a test drive last weekend @ the Omaha area dealership. They were very helpful and driving it was a real blast. Really loved the paddle shifting.
I understand it will take about a year to get it baring any problems.
I live in Ankeny and am looking forward to getting it.
Today is 11 months from the day I reserved, and I am still waiting to get my confirmation email. Just based upon my experience, I believe it will take much longer than a year if you hold out and order the thing and wait for it to be delivered. I am weakening, considering the orphan route. I want to order a passion, black all the way with the comfort package, gauges, radio upgrade, still thinking about fog lites and alarm though. Never had a car with either of those options, and don't see much need for them here. But hey, they're comparatively cheap options too, might be good for resale.
Hi ya'll!! I received my Passion Cabriolet about 2 months ago. I got just about every option you could ask for, including the convertible top. It's black/black/black leather interior. I love driving it to work in Ames. When I'm driving like a mild manner Clark Kent, I use about about 2 gallons of E20 for my 88 mile round trip. I already put about 6000 miles on it, but just recently learned the correct way to let the car shift. ( Do nothing but keep the foot steady.) The only complaint I have right now is that, there is no good way to coast. I know I can put it in neutral, but that doesn't work very good when you want to select a proper gear to pick up speed again. ( Works fine if you are coming to a complete stop.) Still it keeps me smiling as I whiz past the SUVs.
How many Iowa smart owners are there? Could you sign in and tell where you are and what you have, when you got it, miles, problems...?
Hi, I live near Fort Dodge, Iowa. I have a 2005 Smart Passion Cabiolet (Mercedes motor). I bought it in Florida in August, 2006. I have approx. 20,000 miles on it to-date. No problem until last weekend - muffler had to be taken off and shipped to Florida dealership.
